What's Coming
The next scroll.
Version 1.7 is now live. Version 1.8 is in active development.
Now live on the Mac App Store.
Everything from the 1.5 and 1.6 updates. Update from the Mac App Store.
Menu Bar Mode
Thoth now lives in your menu bar. Start a recording, pick a mode, and check recent recordings without leaving your current app. Post-recording actions open in their own window. First look →
Meeting Detection
When Zoom, Teams, or Slack launches, a nudge appears in the menu bar. One click starts recording in mixed mode, capturing both sides of the conversation automatically.
French Interface
Full French localization. Every screen, every setting, every AI result. The app language follows your system preference automatically.
Folders and Tags
Organize recordings into color-coded folders, up to three levels deep. Assign multiple tags to any recording and filter the sidebar in one click. Batch move recordings via right-click.
Apple Speech Engine
A new on-device transcription engine powered by Apple's Speech framework. Works for live recording and re-transcription, including mixed-mode. Language packs download on demand. Everything runs offline after that.
Apple Intelligence
Summarize recordings entirely on-device using Apple Intelligence. No API key, no internet, no data leaving your Mac. Best suited for shorter recordings. Available alongside cloud and local model options.
Groq Provider
Groq is now available as a cloud AI provider. Fast responses and a generous free tier make it a great starting point before committing to a paid plan. Bring your own key from console.groq.com.
Private AI Server
Connect Thoth to any compatible local server on your network: LM Studio, vLLM, Ollama, and others. Enter the server URL in Settings. Models are fetched automatically. No API key required for most setups.
Use cloud AI without sending names.
On-device anonymization for the bring-your-own-key cloud path. Read the post →
On-Device Anonymization
Before any cloud summary, Thoth finds names, places, organizations, phone numbers, emails, and your own terms in the transcript and swaps them for neutral tokens. Detection runs entirely on your Mac, and the real values are restored in the result so the summary still reads naturally. How it works →
Review Before You Send
See every term Thoth found, grouped by type, with the transcript tokenized so you know exactly what leaves. Play the audio at each spot, correct a misheard name, or add and remove terms. Apple Intelligence can even suggest terms to redact, on device.
More private AI. Recordings everywhere.
Two new privacy-focused cloud AI providers and cross-device recording transfer, coming alongside the iPhone launch.
Mistral AI
A privacy-respecting European AI provider. Bring your own API key, no data used for training, EU data residency. Same setup as the other cloud providers.
Tinfoil Verified Enclave
Cloud AI that runs inside a verified private enclave. Thoth attests the server hardware in real time and shows you the proof. The provider cannot read your data even while processing it.
Cross-Device Transfer
Send any recording from Mac to iPhone or back. Transfer directly over Wi-Fi on the same network, or drop it in iCloud to pick up later. No account required for the direct path.
Custom Prompts
Save reusable AI prompt templates and run them on any transcript. Available on both Mac and iPhone. Use a saved prompt as the summary structure or run it alongside the built-in actions.
Library Export
Export your entire Thoth library to a readable folder tree on your Mac, mirroring the folder structure in the Organizer. Transcripts, summaries, and notes all included. Right-click any folder to export just that folder.
Calendar Integration
Thoth reads your upcoming calendar events and nudges you before any video call starts. Works with Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and any event with a conference link. Opt-in, off by default.
Thoth for iPhone.
Active development. Same privacy-first architecture, built for the go. Read the announcement →
Record and Transcribe
Record meetings, lectures, and conversations on your iPhone. On-device transcription with Whisper and Parakeet. AI actions, speaker identification, and notes all work the same way as on Mac.
Speaker Identification
Automatic diarization detects who spoke when. Adjacent segments from the same speaker are merged into clean blocks. Rename any speaker directly from the transcript.
Import from Any App
Received an audio file? Import it directly into Thoth from Files, Voice Memos, or any app via the iOS share sheet. Supports MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, and more.
Universal Purchase
One subscription covers both Mac and iPhone. If you already have Thoth Pro on Mac, it is automatically unlocked on iPhone. No second purchase, no separate plan.
Live Activity and Dynamic Island
A live recording indicator on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. See elapsed time at a glance without unlocking your phone. Tap to jump straight back into Thoth.

Thoth is built by one person, with no funding, no team, and no investors. Every Pro subscription directly funds the next feature on this list. If you are on the free tier and finding Thoth useful, upgrading to Pro is the most direct way to support its development. Thank you.
